I belive TLDR mailing list is setup to go into a dove-net message group.

Can you share how you have that setup? I've never had success with
using aliases or mailing list on synchronet.

But would like to create message area based on incoming mail from email mailing list, and/or create a mailing list on my BBS.

Months past we discussed, and I never got resolved why may aliases would not work except to user 1. But would like to take another look over the holiday, while I have some time to dig into it.

Sure, I subscribed to the mailing list using a newly created email address (never used before, doesn't belong to a user), then setup an alias in ctrl/alias.cfg:
somethingunique@mybbs.synchro.net sub:some-sub-board
