I don't really want to buy a better gaming pc until I find out more
    about the Switch 2.

I am lucky to own both a PS and XB as well as a self-built PC (or 5 or 6 .. )

I tried PS+ Premium for a month and dropped it. Sure the movies are nice, but there aren't THAT many to warrant the price. The cloud gaming is decent, but still, not worth the double-price over the standard basic subscription.

I have a few games on STEAM, and PS allows you to play-on-pc IF you have purchased those games - ok, but I don't need to sign-in to play them, all I get are a few bonuses - again, not worth the double-price. And now their consoles are just way too overpriced for all the issues they are having if you use that console for 8 hours a day or more.

I just signed up for the XB GamePass Ultimate (versus the CORE I've had for decades). I just found out that not only do I get MORE items over PS, but I can also remote play on my PC or Cellphone/tablet, etc. Cloud gaming is great as well (because I upgraded from over-priced Cable to Fiber a couple years ago). I just picked up a new Meta Quest 3 and XB allows playing those games as well all for less than what PS was charging me. So it took ALL these years not only for MS to create a console that doesn't overheat when watching BLURAY, but also creating a network that allows ANYONE to join in and play - you don't even need to own a console to play if you have a good PC or tablet/cellphone.

VR play is awesome! Of course, the best game I got was the new BATMAN: ARKHAM SHADOW (which came with the headset). And I'm hooked! Reaching out to grab hold of a ladder rung then climbing .. turn head and the view rotates with you. FUN FUN FUN .. I just made sure I watched a few videos and edited the ACCESSIBILITY setting for SITTING (This way I don't try jumping into my TV or out my window while playing - LOL). The QUEST 3 also allows for PASSTHROUGH, so I can be watching a movie or playing a non-VR game and walk around the house, use the restroom, etc., and the main screen stays where you set it up. I just turn my head and can see the screen a room away. I also played around with multi-tasking items, where I can remote to my PC, edit a word document, while watching a movie. Talk about the MATRIX coming to life!

I am going to throw an unpopular opinion in and declare the SteamDeck made game consoles obsolete.

I used to be a heavy console gamer when I was a kid, back in the day when consoles were plug and play. There was a distinct advantage of consoles over computers, in that consoles were easy to get running and were more reliable. It was rare to attempt to play a game at a party and discover you could not run it for whatever reason. With PC games, this used to be the case.

Now that game consoles behave like traditional computers the only reason to get one is access to excusive games.

Enter the SteamDeck, which is graming grade hardware that offers you both a computer and a close to console experience. If you want to game on the go it is very hard to beat. Heck, with so many videogame giveaways these days, you could purchase the machine today and play free games until it broke off.

I think the only reason to get a Switch or Switch 2 today is playing Nintendo exclusives. Otherwise it does not make much sense.
