Dude. Did you not read what he said above? The obvious answer is
that there are NO NEW MESSAGES in Area 2. That's why it was skipped.

The screen shots showed there were messages in area 2.

    But are they *new* messages?

Yes. The screen shows show there are "New" messages, if I can ever
get a URL that works for someone besides myself.

works in chrome and firefox. don't know why it says it expired. was set to
15 days; and I'ved it up to 29 days.

Maybe I'll just copy screen shots to web space on bbs LOL

Here is new link, evidently gitlab doesn't make uploads public in
snippets even when snippet is public. Don't know how to change that.

    https://anonpaste.io/share/4fd67dbed0#53XLeH5NDVfIqge

    will show the screen shots.

It says that screenshot does not exist or has been deleted/expired.

Here is link to my ddmsgreader user options you asked
about also. It should be showing only new messages and areas.

From the other screenshots you showed, it looks like it is showing only sub-boards with new messages. I don't know why it would be skipping any of them, as I haven't seen that behavior, but if I do see it, I can investigate.

I have seen instances where when scanning for new messages, an earlier sub-board will happen to get a new message while reading a later sub-board (due to a network exchange via QWK or FTN), so it would appear that it may have skipped that sub-board, but it's because it initially didn't have any new messages. I wonder if that's what's happening for you?

The issue is happening for every sub-board it moves into.
I start on sub board 1, finish it and say yes go to next. It jumps to 3.
read 3 and say yes at end and it jumps to 5. all sub-boards list new messages in the index view. if I go back to them and enter them they have new messages.
the sub-boards all have New messages before I enter any of them as I have show and snap to new message sub-boards.
